pine island projects

I went to see RENT at the Cape Playhouse with my mom and my godmother. It was good! but I kept thinking about how it was a period piece, definitely set in a place at a time, you know? So it's been in the back of my mind since then, thinking about how it would be different if it was set now, you know? because antiretroviral treatments and PrEP exist and I think Angel's friends wouldn't misgender her.
It would be really interesting to take the basic premise of the show and set it during the COVID-19 eviction moritorium.
